The safest way is to leave the converter in the transmission. If you can
access the nuts on the crankshaft flange you can unbolt the converter
from the motor, leaving it in the front of the trans. Its a good idea to
try and secure the converter rearwards with a piece of wire so it doesn't
slide out and spill oil everywhere while you're busy with hoisting the
engine.

from the car while leaving the powerflite in the chassis? If so, is
it just a matter of removing the bellhousing to block bolts and then the
torque converter goes which way? - stays with the motor or hangs on the
input shaft of the transmission?
Or must the trans come out with the engine and then be removed from it
afterwards?
