Hello, To find out that these are not real, display the full headers of the email in your email program. Usually the first line at the top or the one below it shows a handoff to your isp or your domain from an IP address. That is usually where the email really comes from. That is usually an IP address, one of those groups of numbers with dots between the groups and then it shows it going to wherever your email is like your domain or ISP. Get a program called Sam Spade from www.samspade.org. This url is where you actually can download the free tool http://www.samspade.org/ssw/. Download and install it. It is just for Windows. On you have installed it, start it and just cut and paste that number in it and it will tell you who the IP address belongs to at least on the top level. The internet is basically divided according to these numbers and they let you know where things come from. Anyway Ebay does not send email from the Ripe coordination center in the Netherlands or from some place in Asia. That is where a lot of these come from. Ebay is a big company and if something is from them it comes from an IP address that belongs to them. I have never gotten anything that was actually from Ebay but then I don't sell on Ebay. I get so many of these phishing emails including ones from Paypal and I don't have a Paypal account that I have been kind of collecting them and playing with them as time permits. They make an interesting hobby for the geeky. I have thought of putting up a web site that deals with Ebay and Paypal phishing emails, to tell people what is out there and how to check it out. Do list members think there would be interest in that? I have not looked if anyone else is doing anything like that but have not run across a site that just specialized in those types of scams. If you have any questions about the above advice just let me know and I will try to answer them.
