I did exactly the same thing on my 65 Satellite. I assume you also have a cable shifted transmission. If so and you want to use your original shifter, you have to convert the 71 transmission to work with the cable. I bought the parts I needed from Imperial Services. You need the shifter converter package, different rear trans mount and speedo cable. You do have a make a change of the detent spring in the transmission valve body otherwise everything else is external and quite easy to do. I also bought a throttle pressure/kick down linkage kit from Bouchilon Performance that works great.

I will be installing a 1971 big block 727 trans in my 1965 Coronet 500,, the car was a factory 318 V8 with a floor shift counsel auto. Trans. that i wish to keep using. Will there be any problems with the change over or are there any changes that i must do pryer. Please fill me in on anything i should beware of or should buy.
