Arran, It is that phenolic 'link' piece that broke. I'll try that repair
method, thanks for mentioning it. I'll have to devise a jig to set up the
tiny and fragile yet tightly sprung (!) parts to install them back into the
coil holder. I had lost one of the micro springs in the carpet so I thought
it was a lost cause. That spring made itself apparent a couple of eve's ago,
so maybe I'll get this all back together with this repair. Thanks, again,
will post results.

Do you have all of the pieces to this switch still? It may be easier to try
to repair the broken piece then to find another switch. Given the age of
your car the plastic pieces were likely made out of some type of phenolic
plastic, similar to a circuit board, to which epoxy bonds well. Make sure
that you use the slow curing epoxy and give it plenty of time to cure once
you get the pieces aligned.
