66 Disc Brakes?

Hello All,
 I guess this is aimed at the truly knowledgeable folks on this site. I was sure that the disc brake set up was standard starting with 1967. My dad owned a 66 Crown, and I remember looking through the salesman's book, it never mentioned discs. So, who is right? Come on Dick, please put this to rest.
