Re: [SPAM]Re: [Chrysler300] crankshaft

 George,
Now that is awesome information. Did Chrysler continue to do that to the later models 440 and Hemi engines?

Bob; ALL '55 thru '65 letter car cranks are hardened and take the tri-metal bearings. AND, all 300 engines are balanced to +- 2 grams at the factory. N.Y, & Imp. are only balanced to as much as 30 grams. All hi perf engines are balalanced to the minimum, that takes in the 361s, 383s, etc and many of the "A' block engines. That is for the higher RPMs.

  George,

What years of letter car crankshafts would this be true for, in addition to
the '55 300s, if you know please? In particular the 300F and G engines.

Rich; Just had this discussion with a Club member.........both cranks are
forged.......300, marine and industrial crank bearing journals are flame
hardened to .060, New Yorkers and Imperials are not hardened. Other than
that, both are the same in dimentions and interchangeable. Tri-metal bearing
used on hard cranks, Non tri-metal bearings used on the others.

Just curious. Is there any difference between a 1955 C-300 crank and one
  from a NY or Imp?
